Child Star, Demi Lovato's directorial debut, will deconstruct the highs and lows of growing up in the spotlight through the lens of some of the world’s most famous former child stars, including Lovato. The film will explore how children are propelled to superstardom at a young age and how their rise to fame, fortune and power affects their futures.

The YouTube Originals four-part docuseries explores every aspect that led to Lovato’s nearly fatal overdose in 2018, and their awakenings in the aftermath. Far deeper than an inside look beyond the celebrity surface, the docuseries is an intimate portrait of addiction, and the process of healing and empowerment.

Episodes also shared mental health resources from National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), Crisis Text Line and SAMHSA’s National Hotline.

MENTAL HEALTH STORYTELLING INITIATIVE

2023 - Present

OBB is a member of The Mental Health Storytelling Initiative - an unprecedented coalition of more than 60 entertainment industry partners and mental health expert organizations united to redefine the narrative around mental health through programming and research on media representation.

The Coalition launched the Mental Health Storytelling Guide in 2021 to equip storytellers with a comprehensive, interactive tool for telling authentic stories about mental health.
