OBB Media hired ex-NBC/Dick Clark Prods. exec Adam Stotsky as chief strategy & commercial officer, and president of new branded content studio Bolded.
OBB Media, the production company behind Demi Lovato’s recent Hulu doc “Child Star” and Netflix’s upcoming “A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter,” has hired Adam Stotsky in a new, dual role. Stotsky, who most recently served as president of Dick Clark Prods., joins OBB Media as its first-ever chief strategy and commercial officer. Simultaneously, he is also helping launch the branded content studio Bolded as its president.
The news was announced Tuesday by OBB Media founder/CEO Michael D. Ratner and co-founder/COO Scott Ratner; Stotsky will report to both. The launch of Bolded comes as OBB Media has also developed partnerships with brands such as Spotify, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Fanatics. Michael D. Ratner is founding partner (with Hailey Bieber) of Rhode, a direct-to-consumer business that operates in eight countries; together, OBB and Bieber jointly own and operate her YouTube channel, which includes I.P. like “Who’s In My Bathroom?” and “What’s In My Kitchen?,” and include elements of Bieber’s beauty business and other brands.
“It’s an honor to join the OBB team,” Stotsky said in a statement. “I’ve always admired their work as a company that values authentic storytelling that connects with the next generation of audiences. I look forward to the opportunity to make an impact knowing there is already such a strong and respected foundation.”
Stotsky’s three-decade career includes a nearly 20-year stint at NBCUniversal in a variety of roles, including the chief marketing officer at NBC Entertainment, president of E! Entertainment and president of Esquire Network.
“Adam has worked at the center of pop culture for the past 30 years and has the exact experience and vision to support OBB as we continue shaping culture for the future,” said Michael D. Ratner. “We are incredibly proud of the work we’ve done in the past several years and are ready to further build out our ecosystem with this momentum as we look ahead to the next chapter of exciting growth.”
Ratner founded OBB Media in 2016; its other recent credits include the companion podcast to HBO’s DC series “The Penguin,” the Netflix doc “Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa” and producing the iHeart Music Festival live special in Las Vegas, featuring performances by Dua Lipa, The Weeknd, Doja Cat and others. OBB Media has also created and produces Kevin Hart’s “Cold As Balls” format and produces Spotify’s Billions Club.
Following the release of “Child Star,” Lovato and Michael D. Ratner joined California Gov. Newsom as he signed legislation for child star protections. And the exec also received the Project Healthy Minds Storyteller of the Year Award “for destigmatizing mental health in pop culture.”
“Adam’s breadth of experience at the intersection of entertainment, pop culture and marketing makes him an incredible addition to OBB and the perfect leader for Bolded,” said Scott Ratner. “We believe that Adam’s track record, paired with OBB’s deep understanding of consumer behavior and creation of content that our audience authentically interacts with, will quickly establish Bolded as a trusted partner for today’s top brands.”
Also at OBB Media, Julie White has been upped to senior VP of finance, handling the company’s financial policies and procedures. Prior to OBB Media, she was at Ernst & Young.
